I have always valued the up bringing and education we received during our younger days growing up in Sri Lanka. That foundation gave us the opportunity to excel in life and made us who we are today. As responsible citizens it is our duty to give back to society and provide every possible opportunity for our youth to excel.
Over the years I have seen the immense talent Sri Lankan youth possess in sports and in particular Cricket & Rugby Union. I have had the privilege since my younger days to be involved in both sports and have seen the progress as well as opportunities to improve and develop the sports. Having lived in Australia for a significant period of time, I am cognizant of the ‘Australian Model’ of sports administration and junior development. It has been my dream to replicate some of these best practices to help Sri Lankan youth. In this pursuit, we have partnered with Havelocks Sports Club to set up an International Academy. The club who has a century-old tradition and history, was an ideal choice due to the strategic alignment and common vision. Our ‘Team Sports’ Apparel Manufacturing Business “ FlyHiSports” works very closely with many rugby training associations in Australia and hence, we were confident of creating something unique and impact driven in Sri Lanka when ideating the Academy.
To be the best we need to work with the best. We were able to obtain the services of one of the best coaches, in New South Wales Rugby scene i.e. Kruger Roache and together we have set up the “Flyhi Rugby” academy in Sri Lanka. I sincerely invite Parents and the young children to make use of this academy irrespective of the school or club affiliation so that they can learn and enjoy the finer points of the game and life through an international program.
